Think You Have Enough? Why You Need A Secondary Propane Tank

If you rely on propane for all your heating and cooking needs, and you only have one storage tank on your property, it's time to install a second tank. Your secondary tank will provide you with the space you need for additional propane. You may think that your propane needs are taken care of with your primary tank, but that's not necessarily the case. Here are just four of the reasons you need to invest in a secondary propane tank.

Take Advantage of Low Prices

Propane prices fluctuate all the time. When prices are low, you want to take full advantage of the opportunity. Unfortunately, if you only have one tank, there's only so much propane you can purchase while the prices are low. One of the benefits of owning two propane storage tanks is that you can fill both tanks while the prices are low. That way, you can extend the time between refills and reap the benefits of lower fuel costs.

Allow for Unexpected Use

If you plan your propane deliveries around your normal use, you may be selling yourself short. When you have guests over, you want to be able to have enough propane on hand for the extra use. Unfortunately, if you only have one storage tank, you may not be able to keep enough propane on hand for those unexpected uses. One of the great things about owning a secondary tank is that you can have additional propane delivered to your home, which means you'll have plenty on hand for family get-togethers.

Prepare for Emergencies

If you live in a remote location, propane delivery isn't always an easy task. In fact, there may be times when inclement weather, or other emergency situations, prevent the delivery of your propane supply. Unfortunately, if you only have one propane tank on your property, you may run out while you await delivery. One of the main advantages of installing that secondary tank is that you'll have enough propane to wait out those delivery delays.

Plan for Expansion

If you have plans for expansion on your property, the best thing you can do is install a secondary propane tank. Your primary propane tank might not be enough for the plans you have for your property. Having a secondary tank installed early will ensure that your propane needs are provided for in advance. That way, you'll already have a supply of propane for the addition.
